Abstract
School
organizations are now dealing with preassures from external contexts,
particularly from stakeholders who are demanding schools to attain higher
levels of scrutiny concerning the quality of education. It is seen as a fact
that schools organizations especially in Indonesia fail to meet desirable
standard for students’ outcome. Morover, such reality is coupled with is
coupled with the complaints from some parents that their children have poor
literacy and numeracy skills. It is contended that the primary reason of those
failures deals with teachers’ motivation and work climate within the school.
Therefore, school organizations need to improve their capacity. In other words,
school organizations in Indonesia are encouraged to strategically take necessary
steps so that the fundamental objectives of increasing students’ achievements
can be obtained. Providing adequate incentives to staffs would be the
short-term objective to improve school organization capacity and changing
current organizational culture by adopting the concept of learning organization
would be the long-term objective. However, school organizations need to be
consistent in implementing the frameworks so that the truly objective desired
can be achieved.
